Response Article: Is the MC80 Still Terribad?

Is this a bad ship?

Yeah, it's kinda cheating to write a response article.  I guess I'm finally turning into a real blogger, first a clickbait article, then a response to something someone else wrote.  I hate myself.

Reinholt stated a thread (with a really in depth OP) in the FFG Forums that talked about the issues he had with making the MC80 into a viable ship, and needless to say, I disagreed with it.

Tournament Points and Winning - Part III - Long Overdue Update

Longtime Readers of this blog, or people who actually browse the Academy, may remember a time when I discussed Tournament Points (I did that back in September, wow time flies!) and after the increase to 400 points and a new MOV / Tournament Point scale, this has needed an updating.

Well, here is that update.

Let's win a Tournament!

Being the Playerbase We Want to Be

If something is legal according to the rules, and gives you an advantage, should you do it?

How much pride to you take in being an Armada player?  A miniatures gamer?  In being someone that shops at your local game store?

How do you want your local area to be seen in your city?  In your region?  In the greater community?

Guest Article - Star Wars Rebellion: A Review from a Casual Player

When I first suggested that I play Armada with my Girlfriend, who is choosing to go by "Howlrunner", she was initially... concerned.  She never really enjoyed playing X-Wing or Armada with me.  But she's been a player in all of our boardgame nights with mutual friends, playing a variety of games.  She's just started up a blog of her own at Casual Flyday so check it out!

I asked her, as my "other half" for not only one, but two games of Rebellion, what she thought, and she decided she would write up a review as well.  So without further ado...

Star Wars: Rebellion - A Review

I figured I should share a review of Rebellion before I start discussing strategies for finding the Rebel base, or completing objectives against the might of the Empire.

Star Wars:  Rebellion is a turn based 4X-like strategy board game designed to capture the epic feel of the Galactic Civil War from Star Wars Episodes 4 - 6.  While it shows some similarities to games that I've played in the past, especially including FFG games, it is in many ways its own animal.  I am going to be writing about the games that I've managed to play so far, and what I've taken away from the game - both what I think the game will appeal to and frustrations with the system.

In a future article, my better half "Howlrunner" will be writing what she thought of the games that she played against me, and what she liked (and didn't like) about the games.  Full disclosure, I won the first game as the Empire, and she won the second game also as the Empire.  I also lost a 3rd game, playing with 4 players, as the Empire (though we played the multi-player team variant kind of wrong).

Guaging Interest - Rebellion

I know we have been primarily doing Armada articles here, but is there interest for a tactics article for Star Wars Rebellion?  Let me know in the comments below.

**April Fools Prank** Wave 3 - Part 2 Preview! Interdictors, Defenders, K-Wings and... the Assault Frigate Mk I?

**April Fools Day Prank**

That's right!  With FFG's confirmation at Adeptcon that the flotilla was just a part of wave 3, we at Steel Squadron HQ managed to steal an exclusive interview with FFG's lead designer for Armada, James Kniffen.

That's right, it's a big one!  More Imperial and Rebel elite fighters (and the Z-95)!  The Interdictor Cruiser and another new upgrade type (Gravity Wells).  And... the Assault Frigate MkI?
